22PlusY is a site for men, by men and is not a retail site, nor is it a ‘fake reviews’ type of site. That said, every now and then we come across products that we really like and can offer great products/service or great value… better still, BOTH!
That’s what this post is about.

The first product we like is in the Pets section and is a dog harness.

Discover ‘new’ old technology
This is another product we like. Most of us take what we’re given as being ‘the technological solution’; however, so many different ideas have come and gone over the years.
Building a functional model provides at least three benefits:
- The pleasure of building
- The pleasure of learning
- The finished result for display
Take this model, for example. It is a working engine that uses the Sterling principle for converting heated air to movement, and a swash plate for converting axial movement to rotary. Once built it becomes a beautiful display piece.

1. 1Password (Best for Families & Non-Techies)
1Password remains the gold standard for “Emergency Planning.” When you create an account, it generates an Emergency Kit (PDF). This document contains your Secret Key and a space for your Master Password.

Legacy Strategy: Print two copies of the Emergency Kit. Keep one in your home safe and give the other to your solicitor or the person named in your Will.

Why we like it: Their “Watchtower” feature also alerts you if any of your accounts have been compromised in a data breach.
2. Bitwarden (Best for Tech-Savvy & Budget)
Bitwarden is an open-source powerhouse. Their Emergency Access feature allows you to designate “Trusted Contacts” who can request access to your vault if you are incapacitated.

Legacy Strategy: Set a “Wait Time” (e.g., 7 days). If your contact requests access and you don’t deny it within that window, they are granted entry.

Why we like it: It’s incredibly secure, and the core features are free, though “Emergency Access” requires their very affordable Premium tier ($10/year).
3. YubiKey 5 Series (The Ultimate Physical Key)
If you want to move beyond passwords, a physical security key is the way to go. It’s a USB/NFC device that you must physically tap to log in.

Legacy Strategy: Buy a “Spare” key. Register it to your accounts and keep it with your physical Will. This gives your executor a physical “key” to your digital life.

Why we like it: It is virtually unhackable via phishing. It works perfectly with Windows Hello on your PC and the Edge browser.
4. Dashlane (Best All-in-One Security)
Dashlane offers a “DASH” file export which acts as a secure, encrypted backup of your entire vault.

Legacy Strategy: Create a DASH export once a quarter and save it to a secure USB drive. Share the password for that specific file with your digital executor.

Why we like it: It includes a built-in VPN and Dark Web monitoring, making it a great “set and forget” suite for men’s lifestyle security.
22PlusY Tip: The “Master Password” Rule
Never store your Master Password in a digital file on your PC.
Write it down. Put it in an envelope. Label it “Digital Executor.” It’s the one piece of your legacy that should remain offline.
A view from afar
Binoculars have always been a great way to add to the experience of being out and about, as well as being highly practical for things like sailing, fishing, plane spotting etc.
When it was time to look for new binoculars we undertook a review of the market and shortlisted several pairs, with the Nikon Prostaff 7S range heading the list. The final choice came down to magnification, weight, and exit pupil, so the 8×42 were the ones chosen
Pros. What we really liked:
- Waterproof
- Bright image
- Light but sturdy
- Comfortable neck strap
- Within budget, albeit not cheap
- A lot of optics for the money
Cons:
- Without a doubt, the rear lens cap is terrible because it cannot be relied upon to stay in place. The best way to deal with this is to accept it and put them in a pocket until ready to put the binoculars away
